Whether you are an avid angler or a holiday fisherman, North Stradbroke Island offers plenty of places to cast a line or launch your boat.
For the more adventurous angler, fishing charters are terrific way to spend the day. Take a tour out into the open waters surrounding North Stradbroke Island in search of the big catch.

Boat Fishing

Only 5 minutes from the beach, on the fishing grounds around Flat Rock, Boat Rock and the Group, boat fishermen bottom-bounce for snapper and sweetlip, and troll lures and bait for Spanish mackeral.

International visitors all agree - they have never caught so many good fish in one day as they have after a day's fishing off North Stradbroke Island.

Beach Fishing

Surf fishermen take good catches of whiting, dart, flathead, bream and tailor from gutters along Flinders and Main Beaches.

Those spinning with lures from the rock headlands can expect hook- ups from trevally and yellowtail kingfish.

Beach Fishing at Flinders Beach on North Stradbroke Island

The fishing at Jumpinpin (known as The Pin) at the southern tip of North Stradbroke Island is legendary for large catches of Bream. The Pin can be accessed by 4WD at low tide along Main Beach.

Jetty Fishing

On North Stradbroke Island, fishing with the kids is also well catered for.
Jetties at Amity and Dunwich on the western (calm side) of the island allow the family to catch fish such as whiting, bream and flathead in a safe family environment. The jetties are also well lit to allow easy night fishing.
