Blue Lake Walk - Take a walk down to beautiful Blue Lake. The freshwater lake is the perfect place to take a refreshing dip in the middle of summer, and is also a haven for a variety of wildlife. Trans-Island Road, Dunwich. The walking track is located on the left-hand-side of the 4WD sand track. Distance is approximately 2 kilometres. Be sure to take some drinking water.
Eighteen Mile Swamp - dont be put off by the name, the Eighteen Mile Swamp is a beautiful and tranquil part of the island where much of the island's wildlife can be observed. A four wheel drive track allows you to safely drive along the side of the swamp from the Causeway.
Inland Lakes - although not known for its inland lakes, North Stradbroke has picturesque lakes to challange the better known lakes of Frazer Island.
KeyHoles - Located just north of the Eighteen Mile swamp, the Keyholes and nearby inland lakes are a picturesque and often overlooked part of North Stradbroke Island, and ideal place for lunch and a swim after a day on the beach.
Myora Creek - Just a few kilometres out of Dunwich on the road to Point Lookout, Myora Creek is a beautiful spot and source of fresh water for the wildlife of the Dunwich area.
North Gorge Walk - Walk around the Headlands at Point Lookout and you will probably see some dolphins or turtles. Spectacular scenery overlooking the ocean. From June to November, the headlands are the perfect vantage point for land-based whale watching. Full walk takes 20-30 minutes.
Skate parks are located at Dunwich, Amity and Point Lookout.

North Stradbroke Island has an international surfing reputation. From the huge left handed sets on Main Beach to the easier right handers on the north end of the island, North Stradbroke has it all.

From June to November each year, the majestic humpback whales pass the North Gorge Headland on their annual migration from Antarctica to their calving grounds near the Great Barrier Reef. While the calves are still quite young, they begin their southern return journey passing close to the coast.
In addition to the annual whale migration, North & South Stradbroke Island is home to a large bird population, and other wildlife, that can often spotted on a scenic walk around the inland lakes or beach headlands.
